John I Lamp Sr., 86, of Canton, passed away Wednesday, June 16th, peacefully in his home. Born in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania on October 7, 1934, a son of the late Albert and Hazel Lamp, also preceded in death by wife Judith Lamp whom he married July 13th, 1991; brother Albert Jr.; 3 sisters Sylvia, Alberta and Irma. John had a great life. Started life racing Harley Davidsons and ended in cruising down the road in his Corvette. Loved to go to Mountaineer and gamble. Worked in heating and cooling for 30 years. John was a jack of all trades. If he didn't know how to do something well, you bet he would figure it out. He had the greatest stories to tell. He loved his family, all of them. He may not have seen everyone as much but he loved each and every one of them. Survived by 4 daughters Jackie Hyde, Sharon (Fred) Smith, Cindy Long, Cheryl Hill; 3 sons Bob (Tracy) Lamp, Rodney (Tammy) Lamp, John (Rosie) Lamp Jr.; 2 brothers Donald Lamp and Allen Lamp as well as 20 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. He will be missed, cherished and remembered always. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, June 23rd in the Waltner-SIMCHAK Funeral Home.
