Jason Lewis Massey, 51, of Mansfield, formerly of Canton, Sandusky, Oberlin, Ohio and Reno, Nevada, passed away on Easter Sunday morning April 9th, 2023 at Mansfield OhioHealth Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
Jason was born in Canton, Ohio on April 30th, 1971. He was the son of the late James Daniel Massey and Mary Alice (Frazier) Massey. Also preceded in death by grandparents Lezone and Cora Bell Frazier and Eloise and Dan Massey. Survived by wife Fuyuko Ito Massey; 2 sons Jason Massey Jr., Nick Massey, both of California; sister Alesia (Todd) Mills, of Fremont, Ohio; niece Destine Massey; nephew Charles Brown; as well as a host of aunts; uncles; cousins; family members; and friends.
Jason graduated from Sandusky High School in 1989 and then he attended the University of Toledo. He also attended North Central State College and Franklin University since he liked to learn. From 1994 to 2006, he worked for Ford Motor Company. From 2006 to 2013, he was an owner-operated truck driver and a manager of Fuji Transportation. From 2013, He was employed at Volunteers of America and then State of Ohio, as a correctional officer at Mansfield Correctional Institution. From 2020 to present, he was employed as a probation officer at Crawford County Municipal Court.
Jason was a former powerlifter and he had a great sense of humor. Lately, he has been obsessed with producing a podcast show, From The Shadows Podcast, with his friends. Jason has also been in a movie called Escape From Death Block 13.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, April 14th in The First Baptist Church of Malvern, 311 S. Carrollton St., Malvern, OH 44644, with Pastor Charles Brown Jr. officiating. Family and friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will take place near his parents and relatives in Bethlehem Cemetery.
