Obituary

Jacqueline S. "Jackie" Jessel, 70, of Barberton, passed away Monday, May 9th, surrounded by loved ones in her home after a brave and courageous battle with ALS. Born in Akron on June 5, 1951, a daughter of the late Clarence and Melinda (Brown) DeLong, she is also preceded in death by loving husband of 18 years Tom Jessel, and 2 brothers Larry and Donnie DeLong. Jackie loved her family profoundly, she always put others before herself. Retired from First Merit Bank, she also was a former president of the G.B.U. club of Barberton. Survived by daughter Heather (John) Custer; son David Dalton; 2 sisters Terri (Rick) Benedum, Sandi (Jack) Archer; 5 grandchildren Tiffany (Ryan) Schindler, Staci Lyn (Jesse) Bauman, Haley Dalton, Landon Custer, Ayden Custer and 5 great-grandchildren Lila, Mason, Natalie, Hank and Oliver as well as brother in law David (Sherri) Jessel and many nieces, nephews, other family members and close friends. Services will be announced at a later date however her final resting place will be with her late husband. The family would like to send their sincere gratitude to Grace Hospice for all of their care, love and support.
