Donna Louise Newman

Donna Louise Newman, 84, of Canton, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023, following a brief illness. Born in Rendville, Ohio, on April 16, 1939, a daughter of the late Raymond A. Smith Sr. and  Margaret Louise Smith. When she was an infant, her parents moved to Canton. She worked for Ohio Bureau of Employment Services (OBES), retiring as the coordinator of Comprehensive Employment and Training Act (CETA) in 1987 with 31 years of service credited. Following her retirement, she worked part-time as a Canton City School guard and self employed income tax preparer. Preceded in death by her parents and ex-husband Osgood Newman, daughter Debra K. Newman, and grandson Clinton Lowe Jr., 2 sisters Sylvia F. Smith, Doris J. Chandler, and brother Thomas E. Smith, Survived by 2 sons Michael O. Newman Sr., Timothy E. Newman, both of Canton; daughter Mahalia Newman, of Louisville; 2 brothers Raymond "Sonny" (Priscilla) Smith Jr., of Louisville, Robert (Linda) Smith, of Canton; 3 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces; nephews; family members; and friends. 

To honor and celebrate Donna's life, calling hours will be held from 11AM until 1PM on Saturday,  October 28th in the Waltner-SIMCHAK Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1PM. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Doctors Without Borders, in Donna's memory.
