Together Again
Carl "Bill" Johnston left this earth on February 2, 2021 with his beloved wife Amy waiting on him. Bill was born October 28, 1928, in Dennison, Ohio, son of the late Carl and Grace (Smetts) Johnston.  In 1943 the family moved to Pittsburgh, Pa, where he graduated from Langley High School in 1948, while at Langley he was a member of the swim team of which he was very proud. Served as a Corporal in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. On August 7, 1951 he married the love of his life, Amy (Devlin) they would spend 69 years as husband and wife. In the fall of 1956 Bill and Amy moved to Canton, where he was employed at Republic Steel for 37 years retiring in 1994. Member of the Korean Conflict Veterans of America, loved the Cleveland Indians and so enjoyed his "Cousin's Day". Bill was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, family was everything to him and he will be deeply missed by all that loved him. Preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved wife, Amy (Devlin) Johnston, died 12/2/2020. Survived by daughters Judi (Jim) Simon, Beth (Harry) Williams, six grandchildren who he was very proud of, Jessica, Jillian, Lindsay, Ted, Whitney, Amanda and 11 great-grandchildren (with one more on the way), brother and best friend Al (Marilyn) Johnston, beloved cousins, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A special thank you to the Baum Family and the entire staff at Bethany Nursing Care for their compassionate care and kindness. A private family service was held.
