Ronald Riegler Obituary

Ronald L. Riegler peacefully passed away on Monday morning, August 26, 2019. Born in Canton on December 26th, 1936 to the late Thelma "Tony" Davis Riegler. Ronald L. Riegler grew up in Canton. He was a proud graduate of McKinley High School class of '54. He was captain of their swim team. He was the first student at Kent State University to have a full swim scholarship. Once again, Ron was a team captain. During this time, he proudly served in the United States Navy Reserve. After his graduation from KSU, Ron fulfilled his dream of graduating from the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts in 1963. He loved New York City and worked there for 7 years on Candid Camera for Allen Funt. When Allen decided to end the show, Ron moved to the Akron area where he worked with his friend at their advertising agency. When Shelly suffered ill health and the business closed Ron used his beautiful voice to assure listeners of hearing a beautiful radio show full of terrific music along with his wit and humor. That was his day job while in the evenings he performed as an actor or director in many community theaters. Ron won many awards for his work. He loved all of the facets of the theater. He worked diligently to make sure all of his performances were of the highest quality possible. He loved to write and successfully entertained large groups as his actors outwitted themselves in his murder mysteries. He was the beloved husband of Evangeline "Evie" Maronitis Riegler, and was also survived by step son Stephen (Christine) Woessner; granddaughter Caitlyn; many loving, caring cousins; as well as numerous friends whom he encountered throughout his lifes journey. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 7th in the Grace United Methodist Church, 1720 Schneider St NW, North Canton, OH 44720, from 6PM to 7PM.  A memorial service will begin at 7PM with Ronald's favorite dessert bar and refreshments to follow.
