David L Mayle, 71, of Portland, TN, formerly of Canton, passed away Monday, November 10th, at his home following a lengthy illness. Born in Parkersburg, WV on July 31, 1948, a son of the late Barnard K. and Joan (Williams) Mayle, also preceded in death by step-father Howard Compton, grandparents Riley and Laurie Mayle, sisters Susan, Lucy, brothers Stevie, Victor, and Barnard. A combat veteran, David served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. Besides his wife, Mary Mayle, he is survived by 2 daughters Charlotte (Kevin) Wilson, Theresa Rowh, all of Portland, TN; 5 sisters Ginger (Cornell) Watkins, of Belpre, OH, Sandra Compton, Candy Anderson-Compton, Tammy Smith, of all of Canton, Sherry Compton, of Columbus, 6 grandchildren Mariah, Devin, Levi, Caden, Jasmine, Kaleb; 2 great-grandchildren Lay-Lay, and Jaxx; as well as many other nieces, nephews, loving family members, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Monday, November 18th in the Waltner-SIMCHAK Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Mayle officiating. Friends may call on Sunday, November 17th from 6PM to 8PM also in the funeral home. Burial will take place in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
