Nathaniel Harris

Age 80, of Nimishillen Twp., passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Green Meadows Health and Wellness of Louisville. Born April 28, 1936, in Miami, Florida to Annie M. (Miller) Harris and Edgar Yarbrough.

Nathaniel, known by friends and family as Nate, graduated from Canton McKinley High School in 1956. While attending school he participated in football, basketball and track.

He entered into the US Army in 1959 and received an honorable discharge in 1961. He worked at Canton Malleable for many years in the foundry and later became a pattern maker. He played softball and bowling with the shop teams and many leagues. He was also an avid golfer and fisherman. His career ended at American Steel Co. in Alliance after suffering a stroke. Later on his health declined due to Alzheimer’s disease. He was a member of Hiram Abiff Lodge #72 and Bezaleel Consistory No. 15.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father Seago Harris. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 53 years Linda (Mayle) Harris; a sister Tommie Yarbrough of Albany, Georgia; a brother Willie J Harris of Easton, Pennsylvania; a special cousin Robert Miller of Canton; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, in the Waltner-SIMCHAK Funeral Home with Rev. Marvin “Jack” Mayle officiating. Friends may call from 6-8pm Tuesday, October 25, 2016, also in the funeral home. Burial in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank Dr. C Tabb and staff, Green Meadows staff, and the staff of Aultman Hospital for all the love and care of Nate. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
