Doris Marie Morgan, 77, of Canton, fell asleep in death peacefully in her home on August 26th, 2017. Doris endured and was strong when facing life with dementia and Alzheimer’s. Born in Irondale, OH on November 24th, 1939 to the late Sam and Ruby Puckett, also preceded in death by her husband Gilbert “Pete” Morgan, died March 1985, 2 sons James “Jimmy” Morgan, Gary Morgan, 2 brothers Roy Puckett, Raymond Puckett, grandson Derek Morgan, and her pup “Prince”. Doris spent 30 years of her life working at ManorCare, tending to the needs of others. There she showed compassion to those whom she cared for as if it were her own family. She took great pride in her work. Best known for her bed making skills and pressed scrubs, working the graveyard shift did not stop her from looking her very best. She took delight in music and it moved her soul to dance, and boy could she dance. She never forgot the voice of her favorite: Johnny Cash. She will forever be remembered for her cooking; especially her mashed potatoes, and macaroni salad. Spending time with family outdoors and playing cards gave her great delight and her skin was always aglow from the sunlight. In her earlier years, she loved to tend to her yard and garden. Her hands were quick to help, her heart was humble and constantly growing in love for people and animals. She will be dearly missed. We celebrate her life by taking what she taught us and will pass it on for generations to come. She is survived by 2 daughters Shelinda Dixon, Rebecca Morgan; son William Morgan, all of Canton; sisters Linda McCollam, Yvonne Kimble, both of Chester, WV; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a very dear person to her heart Marvin Rodocker. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 1st at 1PM, in the Waltner-SIMCHAK Funeral Home with Reverend William Parsons officiating. Friends may call from 11am til time of service also in the funeral home. You may add your condolences on our website: www.waltner-simchak.com. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association: m.alz.org/donate.asp.
